Rights with respect to software source code

In [[1]] presentation the following distinction is made with respect to software source code:

• Right to view
  • See the source code and possess a copy
• Right to use
  • Compile to an executable and run the resulting application
• Right to modify
  • The right to make changes to the source code
• Right to redistribute
  • Give the source code to a 3rd party, potentially in modified or unmodified form
