With Non-Probability Sampling respondents are sampled such that you cannot calculate the chance of inclusion. In this case you cannot claim you have statistical representation. Well conducted non-random surveys can still produce acceptable results. Example sample strategies are:

  • Quota Sampling
    • In quota sampling relevant properties for the population are determined. Items which share characteristics are then considered to be representative of the whole population.
  • Judgmental Sampling
    • No element of chance is used but 'bias' from the interviewer
  • Snowball Sampling
    • Move on from an initial starting place and ask there to ask more participants
  • Convenience Sampling
    • Sample is determined based on what is easy and cheap to obtain.
